Good Grief Bud!!!

It was time to finally ride the Buddha on the tract & he was just......a spazz!!!  He had been  lunged early in the morning - thought it was going to rain - but I didn't ride til that afternoon.  I thought he was good to go ergo did not have to lunge again & boy was I WRONG!!!!  When I bridled him in the barn - I figured HE would get the hint that a ride was imminent & simply walk up to the mounting block & I would get on & off we would go.....NOT!!!!

When we approached the mounting block .....he started to LUNGE....almost wiping out the mounting block, ME, & the hay rack !!  Needless to say, I asked Kayla to hold onto my bucking bronc while I re-entered the barn  -  got his halter & lunge line for the second time in 8 hours & lunged his happy a** again!

Here he is after the morning lunge......giving me the ole stink eye he is famous for :)

Kayla was nice enough to lunge Tia for me as we thought the skies were going to open any second!

Later that afternoon when the tract was dragged - riding was possible & Tia was a doll :)

The Buddha not so much......he balked @ being asked to canter!!

                                                      And  I was speechless!!!

But, we persevered & got the job done - I completely understood his behavior since he had been in for over 3 weeks & was feeling his proverbial oats!!!  This is why I love this equine - you NEVER know what you'll get & yet.....when there are inexperienced riders on him - he's a doll :)

We cantered just fine from then on  :)))

In the mean time - Kayla & Tia were doing quite well.

And we switched - Ms. Tia & I are really bonding nicely - I think her field trips recently have helped develop trust.

Bud was a lil challenge for Kayla - but they worked it out.

The Buddha had met his match ( es) today - but E for effort -  especially b/c he turns 21 soon!!  Hopefully, the next ride will be uneventful BUT if it isn't ....we'll do what we always do & work thru it :)

Mother Nature Has HER Way.....

A big snow storm had been predicted for Friday ....ergo...my trip to the barn was iffy last week end.  However, Ma Nature in her infinite wisdom, knew better than to separate me from my equine!!

While we got rain & a smidgen of snow......

Wisconsin was a vision of beauty....

The snow was SO heavy - some trees' future's are now in question!!

This was the view from the Buddha's stall - just breathtaking :)

Ergo, the Buddha is trying to avoid the camera in his stall :))

My girl Tia is not so shy........

Ms. Regal was content to enjoy her breakfast.

Blackjack longed for his out door world :(

Chucky pretty much just wanted more carrots!!

While Max LOVED the fact he had SO much company in the barn!!

This is actually my favorite time of the year w/ the horses ( minus riding of course ) b/c they are all right there @ my finger tips.........& .......once the country music is on...I actually believe it is my barn & THAT is one grand feeling :))

BTW - I made my best time ever driving to the barn.......seems the rest of the world was too afraid to attempt the roads.......thing is......they were clear as a bell by morning :))
